While closely watching/following CES since 2008 (I know I am late). I came across a company eCoupled which kind of grabbed my attention immediately. They have packed some nice and cool stuff in the area of wireless power. Just digress from eCoupled for a while , the research on wireless power is not new this subject has mesmerized lot of scientists and engineers from André-Marie Ampère to Nikola Tesla to Wireless Power Consortium i.e Since 1820 when André-Marie Ampère demonstrated Ampere’s law showing that electric current produces a magnetic field. Many scientists, engineers, universities or organizations have worked in this field. In CES 2010 Haier introduced worlds first wireless power LCD TV. And just year later at same show CES 2011 eCoupled demonstrated their products. eCoupled has developed some products which eliminate need of lot wires. I am just imagining the cluttered wires behind my desk cable panel will be wire free. I now can foresee when I do not have to get the paneling or false paneling done at my home or office just to get extra point for any gadget at a suitable location of my choice. Now I can imagine my self enjoying on my terrace overlooking hills and lake and working on my Mac witha freedom of finding a location for a charging point.

This question is there on my thoughts for quite some time [...]
This question is there on my thoughts for quite some time now. I go to office and just for 5.5 miles (9 kms) by car takes me roughly 35 – 40 mins in usual traffic. In worst day can take 2 – 2.5 hours. If I go by bike it takes 20 – 25 mins, worst day 45-50 mins. So I save up on time when I am on bike, direct and straight analytics. However I always ponder as an entrepreneur, my team always or must be going through same pain like me. So I set out on a task for my team to figure out how many ways an organization can reduce traffic. Organization can call it charity or under the hood of charity or going green or reducing carbon footprint or whatever their wild imagination can allow them to call. But in my theory it is a simple thing encourage ways and modes to reduce traffic.
Allow employees to work from home
Encourage carpooling
Encourage bike(motor or peddle)
Encourage Video Conferencing/Call Conferencing.
Encourage Public Transport Usage
Provide bus transport system by creating hubs and encourage its usage amongst its employees.
Implement Office Communication Servers or Similar Open Source Solutions so that when working from home team members can see each other online and chat/communicate. VPN is a given requirement for such solutions. Implement tightly coupled intranet so that employees when working from home can have same feeling like office. If organizations think that atleast 75% of staff should be in office on a given day then they can setup a scheduling mechanism of work from home. This way although small number but some number would be away from roads.
There would be many such methods which can be implemented to reduce the traffic. I am sure you folks would be having a list of innovative methods, please do let us know here.
Why organizations should care about such a problem? The reason is people come to work for them and by virtue of using transportation there is increase in vehicular traffic. The increase in workforce is directly proportional to increase in need for modes of transportation. This increase in need increases the load on roads or rails. If organizations can do their bit by implementing efficient infrastructure or any other mode and reduce the need to transport , the load on rails/roads can be reduced. I do not mean to say that its the problem of organizations only. This can also be looked in terms of social responsibility of organizations.
By the way the reason I am thinking on these lines is I am one amongst you folks who suffer and problem is on my route to office I have pretty bad connectivity in terms of public transport. Being a small organization (10-15 folks) bus is out of question. I have to travel by bike/car. WFH is an option which I leverage a lot. However I am in continuous search for options. If we can collaborative come up with many such solutions then it can help many organizations/individuals. In return this will help save fuel which reduces emission/pollution and we do benefit directly in many ways

I have been contemplating on a system which can temporary block erroneous drivers. These drivers if not given some sort of punishment (Infact they should be sent to rehab), they can harm, injure or even kill others. So there are sorts of punishment available in law-and-order mechanism, but in my opinion they are effective only if they are of greater magnitude.
Before I describe this system couple of things I would mention
1. I am not sure if there are already such systems in existence
2. I am not claiming I am the first one to think of
3. It may be logical extension of in-practice systems. Logical from my view
Okay so what is this system: Its a very simple system which is integrated with engine and has following components
1. It has license card reader most of the licenses these days are issued with smart card on it.
2. Engine Immobilizer obviously connected with engine.
So this system works like this; that whenever you have to turn the engine on, you have to insert the license in the card reader and by validating the status of the license (that is if allowed) the immobilizer will be deactivated and you can turn on the engine. If the driver is being pulled off by officer and failed for some reason like drunk driving, speeding limits etc., his/her card can be deactivated for some time(hours, days, weeks, months, years, life etc). If the license status is changed to blocked the immobilizer will remain active. The immobilizer gets activated as soon as the card is taken out of the reader.
There can be some improvements which would be great if present
1. If this entire system comes integrated from car manufacturer
2. This system can do some basic checks continuously that the owner of the license is driving. Otherwise it can be possible that the license owner just swipes the card and allows another person to drive in, in case of other person being blocked. This can be done using continuous biometric capabilities if added.
This is just in the stage of idea and some initial scribblings, hope to hear from you in terms of feedback. You guys can:
1. Criticize
2. Appreciate
3. Improve

Apparently I am a fan of reading . Hence I came across this book suggested by my book store. I have gone through this book twice. And I must recommend this as must read book. This book talks about necessary environment or ecosystem to generate ideas. In his light and blunt way of writing, this book is sheer exhilarating read.
As Steven Johnson says “Obviously I am a big fan of reading” – author of the book “Where Good Ideas Come From”.
And what a wonderful way to explain the Idea of book watch this video and pick up a copy from: Where Good Ideas Come From: The Natural History of Innovation

Added the new logo of the blog. Earlier logo was not able to communicate what I meant when I started this blog. This logo clearly indicates several questions I have in my mind and I have been thinking about. The punch line mentions the mood I ponder on these questions. Hope you like this change.

Following is the list of five tools, that must be installed on your Mac. In my opinion these are the tools which I work with most often. They are in no particular order. There are many such tools available in market. But I find them easy to use as per my way/perception.
1. DropBox [ www.dropbox.com ]
Dropbox is no doubt the most easy way to share, sync, distribute files amongst your own machines (local/remote), friends and peers. This is unarguably on of the most user-friendly application. Just drag and drop in a designated folder and voila, files will automatically get synchronized with other machines, if you have shared any folder with your friends/peers they will automatically get seen in their machines.
2. Evernote [http://www.evernote.com]
I have been searching for a tool which can synchronise my notes, ideas, business cards, pictures in easy to search manner. Either you organize the items or let evernote do it for you, which ever is preferred go by that mood. You can add tags and make them search through the tags. Works with windows, mac, android, iphones or blackberry phones
3. QuickSilver for Mac [http://qsapp.com/]
This makes my life easier and hence I count on this tool when it comes to searching applications or files on my Mac. Easy and Intuitive in design and usage. Configure with the most convenient keys for you and hit them, there you go start searching the files/App of your interest. Its biggest use is to launch any program or open any document. The best part is its display of searched items.
4. MindNode/MindNode Pro [http://www.mindnode.com/]
In earlier days whenever any idea used to be there on my mind, I used to scribble down either on any notepad or typedown in pages/word. However I was in a search for easy tool where I can map the idea or should I say the mind which is involved in thinking that idea. There were lot of tools which had steep learning curve. In this case either I can develop the idea or learn the mind mapping tool. Now I have power of MindNode Pro. This tool made my life very easy and I can now focus more on my Idea and its landscape/ecosystem. Its available free as well. Worth giving a try as well as keeping handy, you never know when you will come with ground breaking ideas.
5. Cyberduck [http://cyberduck.ch/]
In the rain of File Transfer tools you get bogged down with choices. However there number of good tools available for you to choose. I choose CyberDuck one of the exceptionally developed tool catering to all your needs, like FTP, WebDav, SFTP, Amazon S3 Files, Google Docs FIles, and other Cloud Files. With bunch of integration features which make your life easy. I recommend this tool..

Don’t Manage People. Manage Work. You Lead People
This refers to a very common practice in any organization. Managers tell their bosses that their energies go in managing people. In my opinion this a malpractice. I suggest managers should just manage work, break it down to last practically possible component assign deadline to it and hand it over to designated person. Then monitor the task progress. Lead/Guide/Motivate the person assigned to finish the task with acceptable quality standards. Do not manage people lead them. Manage work..
